hello.

i'm new in this forum, so i didn't know whether this topic has been posted before or not.

yesterday, i accidentally plugging the wrong power supply (19V 2.1A) to my toshiba 1gb external hard drive (12V 2A).

when i plugged in the right power supply, the LED on the hard drive keep on blinking, but it is not detected in my PC.

so, i would like to know whether any of you has any suggestions, or any ideas whether my drive is dead or it is just damaging my usb enclosure.

If the normal voltage for the external drive is lower than 19V then it may well have damaged the enclosure. The enclosure should have protected the hard drive though. Just buy a new enclosure and swap the harddrive into it and all should work again.

yeah, i bought a new one, but it still doesnt work. any other ideas?

If the drive doesn't work in either caddy then it must be the disk thats broken.

yeah, i guess so. i suspect that the drive itself broken. any idea to a least retrieve data back other than data recovery services? cause i know it can't be fixed, and the cost of data recovery is not cheap. so at least i want to try to get the files back.

I supposed your disk has broken.
